Swaythling understands that people have different needs at different stages of their life and that everyone may need help and support at some point.
Some individuals benefit from a short-term stepping stone to more independent living, whilst others may require stable long-term support and security from their support service and home. We realise the needs of our service-users are broad and can be complex, and value a personalised, flexible service. This is why Swaythling chooses to develop strong links with expert partner agencies to provide suitable supported housing solutions.
Our carefully chosen partner agencies provide support and care in specialist areas including learning disabilities, physical disabilities, mental illness, a history of homelessness, refuges for survivors of domestic abuse etc Swaything provides the properties and in many cases these are developed with a specific client group in mind. In all cases our Supported Housing team work closely with partner agencies and monitor the support and management service being provided to residents. Swaythling only works with support providers that have a proven track record in providing support, and if a care service is also being provided they must be approved by Adult (Social) Services. Some of our partners lease the properties from us and others have a management agreement in place ( at the managed schemes the service users are the Societys residents compared to the leased schemes where they are the Support Providers residents) . Allocation of our Supported Housing properties is usually managed by the partner agency rather than the Society. Details of the support providers we work in parternship with are shown below.
We visit and meet with service users of our managed schemes and seek their views on ways to improve our services. We are pleased that our supported housing has enriched the lives of many service-users, and many people have moved on to more independent accommodation. We aim to provide a high level of supported housing and never to forget the intrinsic needs of our service-users.
